While trying not to be too RTP-centric, here's another event that popped up on the radar that we're going to have to be at. UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School MBA Entrepreneurship Club is hosting keynote speaker, Robert "Bob" Young, CEO of Lulu.com, on Wednesday March 17th, 2010 at Koury Auditorium.
Bob Young successfully turned the software industry upside down with Red Hat. Now he is taking on GIANTS in the publishing industry with Lulu.com. Bob Young is the founder and CEO of Lulu.com, a premier international marketplace for new digital content on the Internet, with more than 1.1 million recently published titles and more than 15,000 new creators from 80 different countries joining each week.
For you oldsters, Bob Young co-founded Red Hat, the open source software company that gives hardware and software vendors a standard platform on which to certify their technology. Red Hat has involved into a Fortune 500 company and chief rival to Microsoft and Sun.
From the ExitEvent POV, we've worked with Bob and Lulu on a couple of other projects and we find Lulu to be a top-notch company. Any time we see an entity go to this much trouble to disrupt, we get behind it with a passion.
